Cell colors

I received a worksheet wherein many of the areas have a dark grey
background which makes it hard to view. The cell formatting Patterns
is set to No Color. What other control can be used to control cell
background colors?

Thanks,

Hi,

There are a number of possibilities:

1. The sheet could have a background, although it would require a rather
unique one to do what you describe. Remove it by choosing Format, Sheet,
Delete Background
2. Even though the patterns tab may show No Color, the Patterns drop down
on the Patterns tab may be set to a color.
3. The Windows default color scheme may be modified, this is controlled
from the Windows Desktop by right-click the desktop and choose Properties.
4. As mentioned by Bernard there could be conditional formatting.
