Cell can left indent; anything for right side of cell?

Is there a way to leave more space between the end of a word and the
right side of the column? I indented the left side of the column by
using the indent option set to "1" in the alignment tab of the
formatting box.

Besides adding an extra column to the end of the row and making it
very small in width and extending the border to that extra "spacer"
column, is there a way to make this space? My spreadsheet is done and
if I have to do this, I'll have tons of work re-writing code. I was
going to use Word for the final presentation of the data, but it
didn't work out and I've ended up re-adjusting the columns in Excel
and it will work perfectly. But right now my text is bunching up too
close to the right side of the last column at the end, especially
since I have to use the justify full on the text for this section.

Thanks. :oD

Hey, that's great. I can see using " "@" " for many things without
bothering even with the left indent feature.

Tell me something, though, pls, this doesn't seem to work with a cell
that has more than one line. In this case, my section that needs
fixing here contains 6 lines of data. The minute I use the above
formatting, I get a row of #### which has meant in other situations
that the column isn't wide enough for the amount of data inside.
Since I can't make the cell larger, nor take out text, is there
anything that would work on multiple lines?

This time I realized that this could be fixed by manually rearranging
the text. I'd forgotten that it was one long text string with word
wrap and that seems to be why the letters were touching the border on
the right side.

But I'd still like to know how to work this so that some sort of
formatting works instead of doing it manually. If there is a way, of
course.

Thanks. :oD

Is there anything like " "@" ", or something, that will work in a
cell with multiple rows? Is this supposed to work in anything over
one line in size?

Hi. Didn't get an answer so hopefully someone sees this msg who knows
what can be done. The above cell formatting trick, @" ", does put a
right-margin indent but only in cells that have single-row data.
Anything that gets word-wrapped and split into more than 1 row loses
the right-margin indent as the above trick doesn't work with multiple
lines.

Is there anything else to do this? For years I'd been adding an extra
small column to anything that needed an extra space between text and
the right border, but that has always been a lot of work. I really
need a solution to this and I know how powerful XL2K is so hoping
someone knows a solution to this problem.

Thanks. :oD

Well, you are certainly persistent !

If you have manually put the line breaks in (by Alt-Enter), then you
could apply Find & Replace to look for the manual line breaks
(Alt-010) and replace them with Alt-0160 Alt-0160 Alt-010

This will indent the manually-broken lines by two spaces (Alt-0160 is
a non-breaking space - a normal <space> doesn't work).

However, it doesn't apply it to the last line, but you can set up your
formatting as @" ", but instead of spaces inside the quotes you can
enter Alt-0160 twice, and this will add the two spaces on the bottom
line.

When you type Alt-0160, you should hold down the ALT key and use the
numeric keypad.

Hope this helps.

Oh, dear. That obvious, is it? <g> Yes, I am. Experience has
taught me that there is often an answer if one persists till one
manages to reach the person who might know of even an obscure answer

It does, but it's not a viable solution. I guess there really isn't
anything that one can do. I've always believed this to be a weakness
in XL2K and this bears me out. When it's absolutely necessary, I'll
continue placing that very slim "invisible" column to the right of the
column whose text gets so squashed up to the right border that it
makes for difficult reading. What I wouldn't give for "right margins"
for these cases at this point! said:

Thanks. Much appreciated. :oD
