I saved some documents on a cd with windows 98. Now I have windows xp and it
wont let me view them. Is there anyway to correct this problem?

you can't see the file-names when you browse the CD, or you can't view
the files contents when you double-click onto one of them?

Kind Regards

Unless you saved them in a very peculiar way or in a format which is
specific to Windows 98 there shouldn't be an issue.

It may be a problem with either the cd or your cd-drive. Do you get an error
reading from the cd? Have you tried it on another pc?

This is not a Windows problem, since Windows 98 did not include CD burning
functionality.

Three possible causes for your problem:

1. The disk was not closed.

2. In the Windows 98 era, CD recording software was in its infancy and there
were few standards. Very often, a CD could only be read on the computer that
created it and with the same software program and version used to create it.

To deal with the above you'll need the same computer using the same software
(and version) used to create the disk in the first place. Depending on how
the disk was created, you may or may not be able to open the CD any other
way.

3. Your new computer doesn't have the program that opens that kind of
document.

I cant see the file names when I browse the CD.
