cd writing

hi! i've been recently having problems with using rewritable cds with windows xp. I use sony rw cds and had easy cd creator 5 basic installed. my cds would repeatedly become unusable and i had to use data recovery to recover my data. then i uninstalled easy cd... But, easy cd... allowed me to use UDF format with rw cds so that i could use the cd-rw again and again and could drag and drop. however, if i use windows xp to write a rw cd, it becomes a cd rom and new files cannot be added again. i can only erase the cd and reuse it agian. moreover, i cannot use the udf format for the cd--rws. Any body out there knows a way out.
thanks

UDF mode is packet writing format and is not EZ CD Creator. UDF comes from
DirectCD. Native Windows XP CD writing does not use UDF.

Had you done all the updates to EZ CD Creator / DirectCD??

Ok! I was using direct cd to write in udf. yes i installed updates but the problem has increased after installing the update. i tried uninstalling the update but that did not work. Another thing, is there some way you can leave a cd open after using the Native Windows XP CD writing utility; so that you can write more data on to it later
Thanks Yve
