CD Writing Wizard hangs up

When I am using my CD burner to burn pictures, the burner
works for a while, then hangs up. It sticks on the
dialogue box where it says that it is performing the
final steps to make the CD ready to use. Then the burner
sounds like it is revving up and powering down and the
only way to make it stop is to shut down the computer.
Then when I restart it, I can get the CD door to open. I
have tried slowing the speed down, and uninstalling and
reinstalling the CD drive, both of which failed. The
drive works fine for playing CD's and DVD's. Any
suggestions?

When the burner won't finish, the only thing I can do is
shut the computer down. It just runs and runs..when it
wants to work, it works fine.
