Check to make sure that you CDRW drive is enabled.
Right click on your CDRW drive, select Properties, Recording tab, Enable.
If that is correct, you could try:-
1. Click on Start
2. Click on Run
3. Type the following in the textbox: REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL
(Note that there is a space between ...32 and SHI...)
4. Press Enter.
I followed the instruction to click on my computer, right click on ththe cd
drive, select properties, But there wasn't a recording tab there. the tabs
that were there were General, Autoplay, Hardware, InCd, Sharing. None of
these said to enable. Was I looking in the wrong place?

Since you mentioned InCD, that means you have Nero burning installed. Nero
disables XP's built-in burning capability to prevent conflicts. Is there a
reason you just don't want to use Nero?

burning CDs and win.xp would'nt reconised a disk in the drive,Iwas told the
drive was probably bad so I bought a new one and it had Nero software. It
still don't work right I noticed the wizzaed was'nt there and wonderd where
