CD ROM

I have a DELL desktop and now the CD ROM drive stopped working. I cannot open
it on the tower (only opened by the manual eject button) and it won't read
disks. Is this dead???

Sounds like it. Swap it out for a known-working one to test.

Try deleting it from Device Manager and rebooting, Windows will find it and
reload drivers for it.
Also check/replace IDE cable.
