cd rom driver problems

Cd rom is not working. I cannot reinstall the driver
because . Error message "Windows cannot start this
hardware device because its configuration information is
incomplete "

Hi

Go into Device Manager and delete all references to your CD drive, then reboot your system. XP should re-detect the CD drive and install the drivers for it. Failing that, try the same from Safe Mode.

I had the same problem. going into the device manager wont help..go to
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm scroll down to where it talks
about CD rom and error message 19...its a little scary if you have never
been in the registry before but i did what it told me to do and i was back
in business...good luck
