CD-ROM Disk Not Recognized

I am getting strange behavior from my CD-ROM drive. I have several programs I
can back up to an existing CD-R disk with no problem. Others, when I try to
backup, I get the message that the CD is full. The strange part is that when
I try a new CD-R or CD-RW disk it is not recognized as a writeable device. I
just installed Roxio 8: no change. Does anyone recommend deleting the device
any letting windows detect it again? Other thoughts? I am using a Sony VAIO
desktop with a Sony CD-ROM about three years old. Thanks in advance!

Experience tells me that the CD drive may be going out.
I used to love Sony CD/DVD drives and burners.. Then two to three years
would pass. *grin*

While you can try what you yourself suggested - I have to wonder why you
would suggest it instead of just doing it if you thought it might work.
*smile* I do not think it will remedy your problem.

go to ''start then click on ''my computer''
& take it from there if that doesen't work
then click on ''start'' then accessories, then
open your command prompt & type:chkdsk /f
then answer with ''y'' for yes, then reboot
your computer. let me know if this helps.
