I have Windows XP. I inserted a CD of photos from a different computer so I
could download them onto this computer. The computer made this alarm type of
sound and froze. I cannot get the CD door to open. What should I do? And what
happened? Was the CD or any photos on there corrupt? Help!

Likely a mechanical ( Spin Up ) issue or disk seating/positioning in
the tray. Power off the PC. Straighten out a standard paperclip. On
the face of the CD/DVD is a small hole. This is a manual tray eject
button. Push the paperclip "STRAIGHT INTO" the hole. The clip
will contact the internal release button and the tray will open just a
bit. You can then pull it out manually and remove the disk. Check
the disk and make sure it is not physically damaged. (Breaks or
Cracks).

Restart the computer. When it restarts press the button to open the CD-Rom
drive tray.
