CD opens up in Real Player for some reason

I have Windows XP Home Edition with a Dell computer. Now when I put in a CD
and try to open it, it opens Real Player but nothing happens. I know there
must be something in the set up that I can change so the CD will open up
normally. Also, I have SBC DSL Internet and I think that may be causing some
problems with slow performance of my computer. Can anyone assist with this?

From Help and Support Center:

To change how your computer handles multimedia content
Open My Computer.
Under Devices with Removable Storage, right-click the device you want, such
as a digital camera or CD-ROM drive, and then click Properties.
On the AutoPlay tab, click the multimedia content type you want to change.
Under Actions, click the action you want Windows to perform when it detects
the media type you selected.
Notes
To open My Computer, click Start, and then click My Computer.
Your removable storage device must be attached to your computer for it to
appear in the My Computer folder.

I do not see Devices with Removable Storage when I open My Computer the way
you described. Where is this located in Windows XP?

Right-click the CD-ROM drive-letter, and choose Properties. Select the
AutoPlay tab.

I tried that but it is still opening to Real Player (not just music CD's but
all CD's). When I open AutoPlay it says to select an action but I'm not sure
what to select. Any other suggestions?

Select "Prompt me each time to choose an action".

"Specifies that Windows will prompt you to choose an action to perform each
time it detects the selected content type on this device"
