CD Not being recognised in XP

D

Dave Yates

Hi all,
Wonder if anyone can help me, recently I've been experiencing problems
with XP, in regards you insert a CD in and in My Computer the Drive changing
from "DVD/CD-RW Drive" to "CD Drive" and if you go into it, it's just like a
blank disk alltho there is information on it, this happens with all CD's and
DVD's. The only way around it I've found is to put the CD in that you want
and reboot the PC, keeping the CD in till you log back in, then it's
registered in my computer but as soon as you take it out the problem happens
again. Anyone know what could be causing this?

Thanks

Dave

Dave,

I'm experiencing the same problem with a fresh Windows XP install with SP1.
Can you identify if this only occur with CDR's / CDRW's or with all CD's
including commercially bought.

My system will recognize the commercially bought without issue, it just the
CDR's and CDRW's - all of a sudden?
