CD for WinXP Home

I've been asked to insert the above CD but I don't have one.
The PC came from the supplier complete with WinXP (is this OEM) and
all the supplier gave was a Recovery CD.

I have an erratic 'annoyance' and was told to do
Run sfc /scannow but it stops after about one fifth and the box
appears demanding the CD.

Is there a workaround for this please?

Hello Rick

Re your fixes
My options are set to show hidden and system files but I386 is not
displayed in
C:\System32

Also in Regedit the HKLM entry does not show I386 in Sourcepath. The
entry shows
C:\Docume~1\mypcname\Locals~1\Temp\SETUP

Do I have a problem?
Mike

Hi Mike,

It's not a problem per se, but you do want to locate where precisely the
I386 folder is and change the sourcepath accordingly to get sfc to work
without the CD. Some manufacturers do not place this folder on the hard
drive, but you might be able to find it on any supplied CD's. If this is the
case, you can simply copy it from the disk to the hard drive and use the
same procedures to point to it.
