I run a Program from a CD. When I close the Program I am unable to eject the
disk from the drive. Is there a way to get around this and eject the disk
manually?

Usually there is a small pin hole in the face of the cd drive. Straighten
out a paper clip and stick it in the hole. You will feel it touch something
inside. When it does, using a steady pressure, push it in.
That will open the tray.

But before sticking a pin in that hole... have you tried to right
click on the drive in Windows Explorer and selecting the eject option?

Once in a while I too have exited a game and neither the cd button nor
the eject option in Explorer work. I've always just rebooted the
machine and then botton on the drive works.

The only time I tried sticking a straightened paper clip in that hole
was after a cd exploded in the drive. Horrible sound when it happened
and if I'd not seen it happen myself I'd have thought it an urban
myth.
