CD/DVD failure

The moment AFTER I installed Vista, my cd/dvd player stopped working
properly. The tray won't open and close. When I open it manually and insert
a disc, Vista will not read it? Does anyone have a fix for this??? Thanks in
advance.

Can you post the type of cd/dvd player you have and the driver version you
are using?

There is no driver other than the one Vista uses.

Go to device manager and and remove the drive and then reboot and let
windows put it back in again.

Thanks for your suggestion, I tried uninstalling the driver then letting
Windows reinstall it upon reboot. This worked fine for ONE cycle. In other
words, the tray opened, I put a CD in, it read it fine, and ejected when I
pushed the button. Then, when I tried it again, it failed again. This
doesn't seem to be a permanent fix, and obviously, it is impractical to have
to reboot every time I want to run a CD/DVD. Does anyone have any other
solutions???
