CD drive not opening

Whenever I push the button to make the CD drive open the light under the
drive blinks but it doesn't open. In the device manager it says it's working
properly.
 
Mechanical failure. Try the "straightened paperclip in the tiny hole" in
the front method of opening the drawer.
 
Also, is there any software accessing the drive (even one
that may have a handle open to the drive. If so, this will
keep the button or the eject feature on Windows Explorer
from opening the drive.

On some systems, the straight paper clip also won't work.
If it doesn't work or if an error message pops up when it is
used, you have found the culprit program.

Another way would be to reboot Windows and immediately after
the logo screen appears, before the desktop appears, see if
it ejects using the button. That will rule out hardware
malfunction.
