CD Burners do not function after trying to Install Burner Software

Guest

I tried to install Nero 5 onto my Win XP home edition and now both my burner
are non-functional. They are there but hardware man's yellow exc. point will
not go away. I've uninstalled all possible software and the drives themselves
but the error keeps appearing as the new drives are installed. Any possible
answers out there?

Thanks

To resolve your issue, follow these steps:

1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
[Start > Run and type: REGEDIT , and hit enter]

2. Locate the UpperFilters value under the following key in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

3. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.

4. Locate the LowerFilters value under the same key in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

5. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.

6. Quit Registry Editor.NOTE: After you remove the Upperfilters value and the Lowerfilters value,
if you notice lost functionality in a particular program, such as CD recording software, you may need
to reinstall that software. If the problem recurs, consult with the software vendor for assistance.

7. Restart your computer.

If your ver of Nero is ver 5.0.48, you will need to upgrade, if it is 5.5 you
may stand a chance and be able to update to 5.5.10.56..?
See the links, the cdgone.reg file will clear the filters as well..

Thanks to all. I decided if I couldn't delete the whole key I would delete
what parts I could. That did the trick. The drives are back and fully
functional. Thanks Again!
