CD Burner problem

Vista 64
My Sony DW-G120A DVD RW drive tries to format CD-R or at least prompts to
prepare the drive for burning. The system has installed the correct drivers
and recognises the drive by the correct name.

Faulty drive or Vista fault?

Hi,

Did the drive work under XP or another OS? If so, then it's not a faulty
drive. You may need a firmware update for it to work in Vista. Have you
checked with Sony support to see if there are any known issues?

Unfortunately I never tried it with XP. This machine was built to to try out
Vista.

Yes I have corresponded with the nice Sony people and installed the latest
drivers they sent me.

I took a chance after the posting and let it format as it said. Lasted about
30seconds then proceeded to write to the disk. Copies the files on OK but but
does not allow you to read the disk on any other drive until it is finalised.

BETA = BUGS BUGS AND MORE BUGS =p

I have that problem too. I inserted my CD-RW to my DVD RW drive and it
doesnt recognize it (same problem as you are experiencing). When
double-clicked on the drive, an error came up titled "Burn to Disc". Is the
drivers for vista? Please check.
