I have a CDR that I burned on XP and did not finalize. I had to rebuild XP my
PC and now cannot see the files (photos) on the CD. Can you suggest how I
can get my photos back? or, are they gone forever?

Try finalizing the CD using the same software that you used to originally
burn the files to the CD.

Can you tell me how I can finalise the CD. I used XP tp create it but cannot
find a means of finalising it.

You used WinXP's burning software, or software that was installed in WinXP?
If something like Nero, Roxio, or other burning software was in the previous
installation, you need to reinstall that software in order to finalize
(close) the CD. You may find after reinstalling it that you suddenly will be
able to read the disk, particularly if it was written in UDF format.

Hi,

I too am in the same situation. I got vacation photos from somebody else on
CD. This person used the WinXP "write to CD" feature. However the CD is
not finalized (as always) and I cannot read it on my CD and DVD drive.
Is it possible to finalize it using Windows?

Thanks in advance,
Luke.

if you used xp's built-in cd writing feature, then it DID finalize it; it
is not capable of creating a non-finalized (ie, multisession) disk.
