After a crash while experimenting with a new software
(Intervideo WinRip) the CD autorun function did not
work anymore. Win2000 Pro SP 2, Administrator rights.

After some tweaking (MS KB article #155217) I got back
Autorun for data CDs but music CDs still don't autoplay.

A hint would be much appreciated.

Go to Windows Explorer, Tools, Folder Options, File Types. Find AudioCD in
the list. (click the top of the File Types column to arrange it in
alphabetical order). When you have clicked on Audio CD, click on Advanced,
click on Edit, Click Set Default. I'm hoping this isn't greyed out. If it
is, then it gets more complicated.

It *is* greyed out, but your advice was helpful nevertheless as I
found the entry for 'application used to perform action' contained
nonsense. Before I had only checked the '.cda' file type.
Thank you for your help.
