Hi.,

Does anyone know how to stop Windows XP Home from always playing CD Audio
via the 'digital' method which mixes as WAV files in the volume controls
panel?

I've removed the tick from the relevant checkbox in device properties in the
device manager, but it still does not play audio CDs via the audio cable to
the sound card.

This has two negative side effects:

1. It thrashes the HD whilst playing music
2. The music and sound effects combine on the same WAV fader,
meaning that the two are at the same level.
