Here are some high-lights:
--------------------------
- Native X1950 series support.
- No X1650 XT support yet.
- Software crossfire for X1900 and X1950 series!!! except the X1950 Pro.
Can't wait to see how it performs.
"This release of Catalyst® introduces software CrossFireT support for any
combination of Radeon® X1900 and X1950 installed in a system running either
the Windows XP or Windows XP Professional x64 Edition operating system."
- "Using the Uninstall Utility to remove the display driver or Catalyst
Control Center no longer results in portions of third party applications
also being uninstalled. Further details can be found in topic number
737-23277 "

Hmm, gotta yank the cable off my X1900 CF setup just for kicks. Maybe for
once we'll see the PCIe bus saturated...

Wonder if AMD's takeover has had any influence on this new development?

One can only speculate as to the influence AMD is having over the Catalyst
group and how direct/indirect it is. So far the new marriage seems to be
very positive! Though, it's definitely too early to tell.

If you do test cable-less CF on your setup please post the results. I'd be
very interested to see them :)

Well, I'm using two cards with a thick pass-through cable, and run all games
with 4x multisample AA. 3dfx along with all its quirks lives on...

BTW, if you want a game that'll bring your card to its knees, try the Quake
2 stencil shadow mod: http://sourceforge.net/projects/q2graphicsmod . The
shadows are applied to gunfire, explosions, etc. One moment the game is
hitting the framerate cap at 500 fps. The next moment it drops to single
digits when you fire your weapon. A Crossfire setup here means the
difference between playable and unplayable.
