Case Sensitivity in File names

User did a Word file save and added two letters at the end of a filename.
Later, he did another file save and used the same two letters but upper case
on the file name.
When he searched for the two files, only one comes up and it is the first
one without the most recent changes.

Has anyone encountered this before?
I tested and the same happened to me, but with the one file that did open
the changes were the most recent.

Windows file names are not case sensitive. If he had saved the new version
in the same location as the old one it would have overwritten it, so he must
have saved it somewhere else. If he can't find it, one possible way is via
the recent files list on Word's File menu.
