Case Sensitivity Ignored in Searches
On: HP Pavilion Notebook, XP/SP2

Windows Explorer Search does not repond to the Case Sensitive option (in
Advanced earch options) when I check or uncheck the box. A search for 'A'
returns 'a' as well, and vice versa. I believe this began to occur after
Explorer caused a shut down - which had an MS download fix but did not solve
the CASE/case problem.

I have posted in a number of forums without a reply!! This search criterion
is critical to me since I have hundreds of architectural floor plans with
coded file names and manually finding the one I need can take an hour instead
of an instant!

If you are a MVP and have no solution please reply to this post just so I
know someone has read it!

THANKS

In my opinion, XP search has been strange since day one. Find a good
alternative search program. I use FileLocator Pro, shareware from
www.mythicsoft.com. They also have a free search tool called Agent Ransack.

Thanks Sharon!
I've heard others recommend Agent Ransack. The more refined I can make my
searches the happier I will be! So I'm off to the www.com's.

You're welcome, Gregory. I hope that you'll be as pleased with the program
as I have been.

Yes! - AGENT RANSACK is FANTASTIC! Add bold and italic to that font, and a
string of exclamation marks. If anyone is dissatisfied or having PROBLEMS
with the WINDOWS SEARCH they should try this free download program - it’s
easy to use even if you don't know any logic at all, and it can be launched
just by right-clicking on any folder you want to search! Or...with the short
Help tutorial you can construct criteria to find a needle in a haystack in a
distant galaxy in a parallel universe. (You get the idea.)
I am one happy camper. THANKS AGAIN...
