Volume License customers will instead ask their Microsoft representative
directly which is usually the best channel for them.
Typical users of this newsgroup own OEM or retail and not Volume License.

Many Brits in this group may want to know about cheaper VL licensing for
their business.

Very few if any post here with issues related to their Volume
Licenses.

There have been a few threads that have touched on VL licensing here.

Volume License customers will instead ask their Microsoft
representative directly which is usually the best channel for them.

This kind of licensing may just open up VL to small businesses that
couldn't afford that in the past, and if you read the article this
Second-hand VL licensing is outside of the normal MS VL channels.

Typical users of this newsgroup own OEM or retail and not Volume
License.

Oh, so now we are only allowing posts that are for "typical" users of
this group?

Who said they were asking a yank anything. This is an information
thread. And some Brits may have just heard about this LEGAL second-hand
VL licensing for the first time in this group. I know its the first
I've heard of it. If such a thing started up in the US, and some Brit
told me about it through this group, I'd be damned grateful, as I know
quite a few small business owners that might just want to go that route.

It applies 1) because it could be Windows XP they are licensing, 2) is
there a m.p.wzp.volumelicensing newsgroup ?

Don't you see the irony of this all ?

Carey is saying that additional XP Retail licenses are required for just
about any reason imaginable. Jon Q. Public nees to go out and spend
ANOTHER $150 just to dual-boot his system between 2 installs of XP on the
same machine ?

Explain why M$ would bless the sale of second-hand licenses, VOLUME
licenses, when they stand to do nothing but lose money the end. If it
were YOUR operating system, would you encourage this ? Or would you
rather sell 250 brand spanking new copies, above the one that were
already sold.

Anyway, the way that sentence in the EULA is written, being 'You may
install, use, access, display and run one copy of the' is NOT straight
forward and clear because of the use of the word AND is used instead of
some other wording. The way it is indicates that all 5 conditions must be
met AT THE SAME TIME. In the case of 2 removable HD's being swapped,
there is no way at all that all 5 conditions can be met.

Furthermore......is it not legal to remove a retail copy of XP from one
computer and install it on another, which M$ gives you permission to do ?

So Carey is now saying using the swapping hard drive method is a second
computer, but really then, every time you swap the drives you are
removing it from one PC and putting it on another, which again, IS
allowed by M$.

Well all VL computers came with an OEM copy of windows (any oem version). As one needs an OEM copy to use VL on that computer. I'd like to see the conditions on transfer.
