cant view pictures.....ANYONE HELP PLEASE?

ive just bought a new pc with windows media center, but i cant view any
pictures i download or recieve in emails. i transfer them all to my pictures,
but they just wont open whichever program i try to open them with, the
message i get is "unable to open" the file (picture) i choose ! can any help
me please?

What type of files are they, e.g. .bmp, .jpeg?

How are you "transferring" them?

Rt click\Properties on one of the pictures to see what the file type is.

Even MSpaint can view jpeg files. What programs are you trying to open the
pics with ?.

Are you sure that when you're saving them, you're choosing the correct
"Save as type. . " ?

sorry jon, when i click on picture properties for ANY sent the type of file
they are is "file" thats all it says, as if its not converting them or
something. thanks jon !

If you right click on a picture and select open with, you can choose which
application to open the jpgs. You should at least have MSPaint available.
Windows Picture and Fax Viewer should be there somewhere also.
You can then check the box to always open with that app.

Try this, right click and choose rename. Make sure they have the format of
'picture-name.jpg' and see if they will open then. You may get a message
about changing, just 'yes' it away.

If you can see the pics in your email, but not after saving them; the
file properties just say "file" and no program will open them -- then it
sounds as if you aren't saving them correctly.

Make very sure the "save as type" box is set to .JPG.

Download Irfanview,while setting it up select all file types. It is
great editor and will open almost anything. Keep me posted
