I tried to use Windows XP restore feature but every bold date I selected
in the past two weeks returned the message that Windows could not
restore my system to the specific point, and that no changes were made
to my system. Why didn't Windows allow any restore? I do have SP-2
installed. Thanks.
Tom :)

Tom;
There may be corrupted data in system Restore.
Turn off/on System Restore to delete corrupted files:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.
Click System Restore Settings on left side.
Check "Turn off System Restore", click OK, follow prompts and reboot.
This deletes ALL Restore Points including corruption.
Then go back and turn on system Restore and create a Restore Point.
