Can't use CD Rom's after uninstallind Easy CD Writer 4

Sometime ago I purchased a Toshiba DVD-ROM (model SD-
R1002). It came with Easy CD Creator 4 Standard Version
(originally produced by adaptec, now supported by Roxio)
bundled with it, which I installed on my computer. I
recently upgraded my computer with Windows XP and decided
to uninstall the Easy CD Creator software. Now neither
of my CD ROMs will function. From the device manager, I
get the following message: "Windows cannot load the
device driver for this hardware. The driver may be
corrupted or missing. (Code 39)". I have tried
uninstalling the CD ROM's and reinstalling them without
success. I also downloaded and
ran "DriveFixEZ_Uninstalled" from Roxio without any luck.
Can someone provide guidance to get my CD ROM's working
again?
