I have a web site that I originally built using FP 98 and
uploaded several years ago. I have since upgraded to
FP2002 and am running XP. I have finally gotten around
to trying to make changes to the site. I was evidently
able to download the site. I made some changes to the
main page, and then tried to publish it. When I try
this, I get this error message; "Please enter a publish
destination that is different than the current open
web." Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks.

Several questions:

1. how did you go about "downloading" the site to your
computer? You should publish the site from your host to
your computer using the "http" method of publishing. See
Front Page help "http"

2. did you check Front Page help for the
keyword "publish"? It gives you the steps you need to
take. It sounds as though from the error message you
describe that, after having downloaded your site from
your host to your PC, that when you are trying to again
publish from your PC to the host you are trying to use
the publish destination as your PC as opposed as your
hosted site. Try it again and when you are prompted with
a dialog for the publish destination, enter your host
site.

3. have you considered purchasing the book "Microsoft
Front Page Inside Out 2002" by Jim Buyens. Enough has
changed since FP 98 that you should probably read a book
on the subject.
