Please help. I cannot uninstall Synctoy. Each time I try to un-
install, I am asked the location of a setup.exe file which seems to be
in temp
directory..which has long been deleted.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

maybe using this in the run command

MsiExec.exe /I{B5688129-7595-4E5B-9990-CEF981A31264}

Just download and do a new install. Chances are that will give you a prompt to uninstall, if not then let it install first, then go back to Add /Remove and uninstall it.

he tried it out, but
got a response that synctoy
needs to be installed first.

unfortunately, he can neither
re install it or uninstall it and
supposedly he tried using a
reg cleaner to remove all the
keys for synctoy as well. it seems
that he needs to find some deleted
files before the process on uninstallation
can proceed.

so i suggested to use an undelete
program and search for the deleted
files still on the disk.

DB,

Thanks for the suggestions. I have tried several undelete utils but
with no success.

I re-created the requested temp folder and copied (and renamed, it's
looking for setup[1].msi) the setup filed into it - still no luck for
install or uninstall it can tell it's a newer version.

Only thing I can think of now is to get ahold of previous (1.2?)
version of setup.msi and try to repeat.

Thoughts?

no idea why this is so hard.... such a small program.....

Thanks in advance guys,

Rich

Bill: pardon the expression, but you kick ass - it worked like a
charm!

Reinstall v1.2, uninstall v1.2, install new version.

Many thanks to you and everybody for their help.

Cheers!

Rich

Synctoy 1.2 installer appears to be available for download here,http://www.bizproducts.com/FreeTools.htm. I don't know anything about that web site so use at your own risk, and for certain do a virus scan on the file first if you decide to try it.

Glad you finally got it worked out, I think it was a pretty frustrating experience.
