can't uninstall program - duplicate

I'm trying to uninstall a program, and the Remove Programs list shows two
installations of it.
When I click on either of them, it shows a progress bar about collecting
information about the program, gets to about 95% complete, then freezes.

In desperation, I have manually deleted the programs' folder and all related
files that I can find, from my hard drive. However, both installations still
show up in the list, and I still can't remove either of them. I've tried
re-installing, but that malfunctions as well, presumably due to the above
problem.

I'm running XP Pro, SP2.

Can anyone help me please?

Thanks, Gerry, but Iv'e tried that process. It's the standard procedure for
uninstalling software.

I need to know why I've got 2 installations showing up in my Add/Remove
Programs list, despite the fact that I've deleted the folder, and why neither
of the installations will uninstall.

Other ideas?
