am using XP Home SP2 - and am having problem updating the .NET Framework,
went to article 824643, when i try to manually remove .NET got to the part
where i should right-click on the file i can't uninstall it - i get an error
message "The installation source for this product is not available. Verify
that the source exists and that you can access it" - that's fine and dandy,
but what does this mean and how am i supposed to uninstall this??? it's
obviously corrupted.... any suggestions????

Alice;
Yes, it is corrupted.
Or someone deleted some of the files.
If that is the case, restore the deleted files.
Otherwise install it to restore all the necessary files again then attempt
uninstallation.

this is the state that the tech at microsoft left it in - was on phone with
them for over 4 hours he said it was working just fine but i think he just
gave up in disgust.... i know i was thoroughly confused by some of the
procedures that he was telling me to do, i kept questioning and he kept
ensuring me that it would be fixed... oh well, now i know that i get much
better assistance through a newsgroup...

with regards to your reply, i have no idea what is missing or how to go
about finding out, i tried the repair using the Windows Installer cache
file, but that didn't work, i am presuming your last sentence refers to do a
complete installation of the .NET 1.1 and this will fix the problem??? as i
am a "newuser" i find this whole process overwhelming...

Alice;
Before you continue, why do you need to uninstall it?
If you are having problems still requiring uninstalling SP-2, follow the
instructions below.

You can download it from this link:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...E3-F589-4842-8157-034D1E7CF3A3&displaylang=en
Download .Net Framework to a location you will remember.
Creating a folder on the Desktop is a good idea.
To install:
Reboot the computer.
Disable all unnecessary running programs including anti virus.
Install .Net Framework by double clicking the icon of your download.
Follow the prompts to install.
Reboot.
Do not do anything while .Net Framework is installing.
You should now be able to uninstall by going to Add/Remove Programs in
Control Panel.

i am trying to uninstall the .NET Framework because i think it might be
corrupted, but my problem may be the installer... i downloaded the .Net from
your link below, and it downloaded just fine, but would not install... just
get a little error screen (no numbers) and it just said the set-up failed...
did the unregister and reregister of the Windows Installer and tried the
install again, but it still wouldn't work.... so obviously the problem is
somewhere else....

my brother gave me the address for the TrendMicro Housecall thinking it
might be a virus or something, i started the scan, and it hung up when it
got to C:\ txtsetup.sif so perhaps this is where the problem is, any
further suggestions????
