Can't turn off script error messages in IE6, XP SP3

garry

I am running IE 6.0.2 with Windows XP Service Pack 3.

When I read a .chm file, IE displays a script error message saying
"Operation is not allowed when object is closed" at certain points. I'm
sure the URL it is looking for (another .chm file) exists, because
clicking the error screen to make it go away allows me to continue to
the right help screen.

I have checked that IE Tools... Internet Options, has script debugging,
disabled, and the check box for notifying script errors is cleared, but
it makes no difference. I have downloaded a new scripting engine and
script debugger from Microsoft, but still no joy. My Windows
configuration appears to be up to date.

Any thoughts on how to fix this annoying bug are most welcome.

Thanks
Garry

XP SP2 is the latest service pack. XP SP3 has not been officially released
by Microsoft. Have a nice day!
