can't start up

I did some clean up because my startup and shutdown were
slow....apparently I cleaned up a little too much! Now
when I start up Windows XP on my Dell and click on a user
name to log on, I get my desktop w/o icons for about 5
seconds and then it takes me back to the login screen,
saves my settings, and logs me off! HELP!

Log on as a User?
Try logging on as the Administrator.

I have the exact same problem and I tried to log on as
admin but no help. if you figure it out could you tell me
how to fix? (e-mail address removed) thanks

same with me, even in safe mode administrator and user both login, load
profile, logout, can't get in even LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIG no work
