Can't send or recieve emails and no error message

On laptop am now unable to send or receive emails in Window Mail. When I
click the send/receive button, or each individually, nothing happens.
There's no error message. My incoming server is supanet and outgoing
talktalk. All settings are correct and changing SSLs makes no difference -
it's as if the command is simply not registering. The broadband is supplied
by TalkTalk and plugging in the cable makes no difference.
 
Hard to say what's happening without an error message.
For starters, do a trial uninstall of your antivirus, just to find out if it is the
culprit. Which antivirus are you running? Some of them are not fully
compatible with Windows Mail.
