Can't send mail or delete message in outlook

Karen

I can receive but not send email. The first message in outlook not to be
sent has been replaced by an "unknown error" mail message. I'm unable to
delete or move this message. Any ideas?

Outlook? We don't normally support Outlook issues in this newsgroup.
Try microsoft.public.outlook.general.

I am having this issue with Windows Mail.

I cannot delete an outgoing message from my outbox. I have tried everything
and it keeps giving me an error. Please help.

If you need help with Outlook, you're more likely to get it if you ask
in a newsgroup meant for Outlook, such as:

microsoft.public.outlook.general

Mention which version of Outlook you are using, and that you are
using it under Vista, in case it matters.

RE: Vista and Hotmail cannot send mail.

I want to thank Gary VanderMolen for his persistence in answering the
question, over and over again.

The problem is so common and annoying that Windows should include his answer
in the error message. I don't know, but suspect that the "mailto:"
tag/process is no longer viable for Hotmail. Who knows this? Why should I
care? Well, after fifteen frustrating attempts to respond and learning to
copy my text before the submit then returning to Windows Mail Live and
writing all kinds of queries to MS, I care very much.

Wow, Control Panel has some new applets. Change the defaults and voila!

You're welcome, Bob.
Windows has no recognized procedure for setting a webmail service as
the default email client (which is what responds when clicking on a MailTo
link). During XP's long reign, various workarounds were developed by the
bigger webmail service providers, notably Yahoo. However, several folks
who've tried Yahoo's XP fix say it doesn't work for Vista. On the other hand,
the fix that was developed for Hotmail about one year ago:

http://www.winhelponline.com/articl...e-Default-Programs-tool-in-Windows-Vista.html

has mostly been reported as successful. I haven't tried it myself because
I don't use webmail.

What is the exact error message(s) ? Are you using Windows Mail or Outlook? Which
version of Vista?

We need all the information Ruth. We are not a Crystal Ball

We need the following information:
- Copy and paste the entire error message
- Who is you email account with - just the part of your address AFTER the @
symbol?
- Who is you ISP since it is no longer pop3.cei.net - who is it at the new
house?
