can't send emails

Outlook 2003 has suddenly stopped being able to send messages- it receives
them fine, but outgoing messages time out with an error message and sit in
the outbox. The outgoing mail account settings are ok, and the 'test account
settings' button sends a successful test email (which I can reply to).
Outlook Express works ok with the same settings. I've disable Norton
antivirus with no effect. Any other ideas?

When you disabled Norton, did you do so by uninstalling it and then
reinstalling it without the scanning option? From what I've seen in these
groups, that's the only effective way.

Thanks for your help, I hadn't done that but I have now cured the problem-
the culprit was my wireless router, and the fix was to reduce the MTU setting.

Thanks for posting back with how you solved this - it helps us get an idea
what's going on out there, and what works!
