Can't send email

I received the following message when I tried sending my first email on my
new computer, a gateway with Vista. I was having similar issues sending some
emails on my old computer (Dell and Windows XP) and I figured it had
something to do with Earthlink. The Earthlink help line was of no use in
helping me. I tried going to tools and clicking on accounts and then looking
for checking the box about authentticating the server, but there was no such
box. Please help! and thanks so much.

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject
'Taryn's resume', Account: 'pop.earthlink.net', Server:
'smtpauth.earthlink.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 Message not
sent - New domain not yet verified', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error:
550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

Thank you it worked.

you need to check the authentication box (step 8) and also change to
outgoing port from 25 to 587 (step 12)...... as per....
