Can't send email to people outside of my email address domain

I just set up my Outlook on my personal home laptop to configure to my work
email. I can send and receive all emails from anyone at work, but I can only
receive (not send) emails from those not from my work (with a different
@domain.com). Everything works fine when I access my email remotely over the
internet, so I know the problem has something to do with my at-home Outlook.
I'm about to run my face into a steel door. Can anyone help?!

More likely is that when you remotely connect to your company's network
when you are at home, like using a VPN, that your connection is in a
secure zone. That is, your host is shielded within a secure zone with
reduced permissions when you connect remotely to their network. Could
be when you are in that zone that they don't permit outbound e-mails.
You'll have to talk to your IT folks and how they have you zoned when
you remotely connect to their network. When connecting remotely, they
probably figure that you only need to communicate with other coworkers,
and when you need to do external e-mails then you will disconnect from
their network and do that from your own host instead of through their
network (as they are not interested in an insecure or possibly infected
remote host being used as a proxy for spam and phish e-mails through
their network).
