can't seespop-up windows

when I am using the internet explorer and click on
somehting that opens a new window, this new window is
either blank, or appears only the frame and I can see the
window behind. WEhat I have to do is to stop & brefresh
this new window and then I can see it.
Does enyone knows how can I fix this?

I have a Sony Vaio PCV-RS20M, windows xp sp1.

by the way, I have windows xp sp1 and internet explorer 6
sp1 which supposed to solve this problem (?)
