I have a desktop etherneted to a wireless linksys router and laptop with a
wireless router. Both systems are running XP Pro. The laptop can get to the
internet but i can't share files, printers.

The error message that I get whe I try to view workgroup computers.

"Xnet is not accessible. You might not have persmissionto use this network
resource. Contact the admin of this server to find out if you have access
permissions.

The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available."

I know that there has to be some switch or toggle that i have not set up
correctly. The only thing that I can think of is that the desktop was just
upgraded to SP2 when the Laptop has had that all along. I even turned off the
deskptops Microsoft Firewall. Any suggestions

Robert,

This is a pretty common symptom as reported here.

Check for misconfigured / overlooked firewalls, and for registry setting
restrictanonymous.

If no help, provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each computer, so
we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow
instructions precisely:

Thanks Chuck but I am still getting having problems...
The windows Firewall are off on both pc1 (desktop) and pc2 (laptop). I do
run a personal fireall (Norton) but this is the same configuration that I had
prior to installing SP2 on PC1.

This is the Browstat from PC1.

Status for domain TAYLORNET on transport \Device\NwlnkNb

Master name cannot be determined from GetAdapterStatus. Using \\OFFICE

List WFW servers that are actually running browser.

Type "BROWSTAT" to list all switches.

Looks like I have a name probelm but I don't know how to fix.

Here is that Browstat from PC2. Which seems to have bigger issues.

Status for domain TAYLORNET on transport

Browser is NOT ACTIVE on domain.
Master browser name is held by PLAPTOP
Master browser is running build 2600
usage: browstat listwfw <domain>
LIST WFW servers that are actully running browser

Again this does not look right but I don't know how to fix. Any suggestions
would be appreciated.

Robert,

Start with PC1, that's running both IPX/SPX ("\Device\NwlnkIpx") and NetBIOS
Over TCP/IP ("\Device\NetBT_Tcpip"). Having dual transports is one problem, so
please un install IPX/SPX.

Check network configuration of both computers.

Then rerun browstat, and ipconfig, per my earlier instructions.
