Purchased Gateway Sys 10/2003 with XP installed. Replaced hard drive 01/2008
from Gateway. Also had to download Windows XP Pack 2. Before replacing hard
drive, HP Scanjet 4670 was working. Now scanner will only copy to printer.
It will not scan pics or text to computer. Error received as unexpected
internal error has occurred. Have restarted program, restarted PC and try
again, reinstall the HP Photo & Imaging Software and try again. Have tried HP
Troubleshooting suggestions with no luck. Please help!

Might find you have to uninstall/reinstall Scanjet .

the hp software bundle
provides features for
scanning, faxing, printing,
etc.

however, the hp software is
not required, although the
way it is designed tricks the
user to believing that it is.

all you really need is
the barebones "driver"
installed.

then with programs
like msoffice or the
office tools for scanning
and faxing, they will
utilize the "driver" to
initialize your printer and
process any of the above
tasks.

what i would suggest is
to uninstall the hp software
and run a registry cleaner if
possible.

then install only the driver
for your multifunction
printer. if when you updated
windows you also lost the use
of the printer, then it might
be that you need an updated
printer driver as well.

then as a test you can run
mspaint or any program
that has an "acquire from
scanner/printer" menu option
to initialize your printer.

the benefit of the above test
is to focus on "driver". if the
driver you have now doesn't
work, then you will need to
download and an updated one.

incidentally, if the driver became
incompatible then it is likely
your hp software is also unable
to utilize the driver that came
with your printer.
--------------------

unfortunately, its been my
experience that some printer
manufacturers prefer to sell
you a new printer rather than
to spend time and money to
update and provide a free printer
driver.
