Hello,

When I try to save any Powerpoint 2007 presentations, I get the following
error message: "An error occurred during creation of an ActiveX control." I
don't get the error if I open a presentation from an older version of
PowerPoint in compatibility mode and save it.

I Googled the error message, and could only find an explanation about .dll
files and needing to reinstall PowerPoint - which I did, but I still get the
error.

Thanks for your help!

Hello,

Does anyone have any idea about what might be happening here? It's somewhat
urgent that I get the ability to save back, as... well I need to save the
presentations that I need to present in the near future.

I'd like to add that this error message only started occurring recently - I
was using PowerPoint 2007 BTR2 without problems earlier. Also, all other
Office 2007 programs are working fine.

Thank you once again!

Does this happen for all presentations (pptx and ppt) or just pptx?
Do you have any add-ins installed?

Hi Patrick,

This happens only for pptx files. I can save ppt files in compatibility mode
without problems.

Cheers.

How about add-ins? Any chance you can answer that question as well?

Send me an email (you can get my address from my website). This looks
like something that is best diagnosed offline.

Do you have any ActiveX controls on any slides/masters in the presentation?
That would include things like checkboxes or any of the other controls from the
controls toolbox.
