XP Pro SP1: I can't save changes to the power schemes. I get an error
"Indicates two revision levels are incompatable". I even get this
whether or not there are changes. How to fix this? TIA

You have to delete the existing scheme before you can save one with the same name.

If you had typed it (and spelt it correctly) in Help it would have told you that.

IMHO the local Help isn't all that clear. It does specifically tell how
to create and delete power profiles but doesn't say you have to delete
to change. And I'm sure that I have been able to save modified ones in
the past (past in this case may well mean Win 9x) so I didn't think to
check the Help. After all, what could be simpler than saving?

Anyway I searched the knowledge base and found that XP does, in fact,
have this problem. So thanks for pointing me in the right direction David.

Help should search the KB. It's the third tab in Help and Support.

[Windows Resource Kit if installed is fourth]

There may be others.
