Can't save attachments

Attachments- OE removed access to the following unsafe
attchments in your mail: "Attachment's name"

the attchment is there, but unable to view it in-line or
save it to disk

was working fine until just updated both windows 2000 and
xp prof. through windows update. i assume the update did
something to outlook express. outlook express ver:
6.00.2800.1123

can receive e-mails with attachments on xp and 2000, but
the paper clip is dulled (not highlighted) so the listed
attachment cannot be saved to disk on both xp and 2000.
can send attachments to myself from windows xp outlook
express to windows 2000 outlook express with the same
problem as above

can send myself (and others) an attachment from windows
xp/2000 outlook express to mac os 10.3 and open and save
attachment

any ideas?

This is a group to support Outlook from the Office group of programs.
Outlook Express is a part of Internet Explorer and is a quite different
program, despite its similar name.

You will probably get a faster and more expert answer if you post this to an
Outlook Express news group.

Try posting in one of these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x
microsoft.public.internet.outlookexpress.mac for OE for Macintosh

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups).
