Can't run .exe files

I have a user here that cannot run .exe files on her windows 2000
workstation. When you click on an executable or enter, for instance,
"regedit" in the "run" box the "open with" dialog box appears. This
happens in safe mode as well. I've been unable to find any help in the
knowledgebase. The user states she's been out of town for a week but it
was working correctly when she left. Any ideas?

Ouch, that's a problem. Sounds like someone's been mucking about in the
registry. Luckily, I've got a solution!

I've attached a .REG file which I obtained from
http://filext.com/faq/idx/2/016/How_to/article/. It will fix all your
programs, and make them work again. Just save it somewhere on the hard
drive, and then double click on it, and finally, click Yes when it asks you
if you want to add the info to the registry.

I know how annoying this problem is, as I've had it too once...
