Can't Rename My Compter and have it stay!!

I keep renaming "My Computer" time after time. Every time the PC reboots
the name always reverts to "My Computer". What do I have to do to get the
name to stay once I rename? Thanks.

One of my machines also had this strange behaviour. I never did find the
solution, but the problem disappeared after a recent reinstall.

I would be interested if anyone knows a solution to this problem.

Hi John,

For My Computer, see if this helps: Start/Run/Regedit

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CLSID\{
20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}

Right click on the {20D04FE0..........} subkey and select Permissions.
Highlight System and click Advanced. Then highlight System in the next
dialog and select Edit.

In the list of permissions, check the box for Set Value under Deny. You may
need to do the same for the Administrators group and your user name, as
well.
