Can't remove word which keeps printing from an earlier version

I am using Windows 2003.
Draft output is not turned on in options/tools/print or edit but a word from
an earlier draft keeps printing in the same place despite not showing on the
screen or in print preview. Short of retyping the entire document how can I
remove it?
I have had this problem before and have ended up retyping the document.

Have you been using track changes? If so, try accepting all changes
first.

Alternatively, could it be a hidden word and you print hidden text? In
Word 2003, under Tools, Options. On the Print tab check if hidden text
is printed or not.
