cant remove or change acct type of 2nd administrator account

Greetings,

I am running XPSP2 and besides having the normal "administrator" account I
also have another one that is of type administrator. I want to remove this
second account. I boot in safe mode (so I can login to the default
administrator account), login just fine...however, when I select this "other"
admin account there is no delete option offered. So, I figured maybe it wants
me to change the account type to non-administrator but when I do that it says
I must have another administrator account. The default administrator account
is defenitely of type "administrator".

What's up with this?

Thanks in advance,

Paul

The default "Administrator" is *not meant for regular use*. Thats why once
you made another account, you cannot delete it normally. I dont know why
you want to delete it but here is the method :
Right click My Computer
Choose Manage
Expand "Local users and groups"
CLick on Users
On the right side, Right click your account and click delete

I saw you chose my reply as the answer but you didn't post a reply stating
that you solved your problem. I can know that only from web-based way but
most people here use a newsreader that will not know about that. So please
post a reply that can tell us that your problem is solved.

You can not delete the built in administrator account so my guess is that is
what you are trying to do. You should be able to delete any other user
account other then that or guest. You can use the command net loaclgroup
administrators to see what users are members of the administrators group.
The built in administrator account can be renamed however which can make it
difficult to determine that it is indeed the built in administrator account.
The built in administrator account however will always have a SID that ends
with 500 that can be shown with programs that show a user's SID such as
whoami.
