can't remove a directory

an unknown program put a directory under my temp directory named transcodes.
that directory has a sub directory which shows up as [student ] and appears
to be empty. however when I try to delete the [student ] directory I get the
following error message:
"The system cannot find the file specified"

I think maybe the space after the word student may be a non printing ascii
charachter but have not had any success in removing this directory.

Any ideas anyone

Occasionally program folders are difficult to remove from within Windows.
What I have found to work is note the location to this folder, restart the
computer and get to the command prompt.

Once at the command prompt, manuver to the folder, use the ATTRIB command to
show any hidden or read-only files, use ATTRIB to remove the attributes, then
delete the files.

Use CD.. to take you back one level then use the RD command to remove the
folder.

Use the WIN command to start Windows and verify the folder is now gone.
